Badges are more than visual decorations, they’re a core trust-and-safety mechanism on Taskbear. This article explains why badges matter to both Posters (customers) and Taskers (service providers), how badges improve the platform experience, and what you should look for when hiring or offering services.
Badges prove identity, qualifications and compliance. They show that a person or business has completed checks (ID, police check, licences, insurance, bank verification, etc.).
Badges increase trust and reduce risk. Verified profiles help prevent impersonation and fraud, protecting both Posters and Taskers.
Badges improve visibility and opportunity. Taskers with badges stand out in search and are more likely to be hired. Posters are encouraged to check badges when choosing someone for a job.
Badges are used in discovery and ranking. The number and type of badges are part of the logic that surfaces “best rated / high performing” Taskers.
Badges are an explicit signal that Taskbear has verified a key aspect of a user’s identity or credentials. Verification builds confidence for everyone using the marketplace:
Reduces impersonation and fraud. Confirming identity and credentials helps prevent fake profiles and scams.
Protects personal data and payments. Verified accounts are less likely to be used for fraudulent activity.
Enables safe hiring for sensitive work. Special checks (for example, NDIS screening or Working With Children checks) are required for vulnerable categories and are shown via badges so Posters can quickly see who’s cleared for that work.
The platform’s Terms also make clear that identity verification results in a verification badge, and that Taskbear may use external verification services to perform these checks.
Posters don’t have time to verify everything themselves. Badges give them a trustworthy shorthand:
Quickly confirm credentials. Posters can instantly see whether a Tasker has ID-verified, holds the right licence, or carries the necessary insurance for a job.
Choose with confidence. Badges help Posters prioritise Taskers who meet regulatory or safety requirements (for example, only hiring Taskers with relevant trade licences or WWCC for child-related work).
Practical tip for Posters: Always review the Tasker’s verifications and any badges relevant to the job (licence, insurance, NDIS/WWCC) before assigning or paying.
For Taskers, badges are a form of reputation capital:
Stand out in search and hiring. Badges appear on profiles and are used as signals in discovery algorithms — Taskers with more or appropriate badges are more likely to be surfaced as “best rated / high performing.”
Win higher-quality work. Posters actively look for verified credentials; having the right badges increases trust and the chance of being hired.
Comply with rules and stay eligible. Some categories require enhanced checks (trade licences, insurance, NDIS), and having those badges keeps a Tasker eligible for relevant jobs.
Understanding the mechanics helps explain why badges can be trusted:
Baseline verification first. The ID/Verified badge is a baseline: many other checks (police check, trade licences or insurance) require successful ID verification before submission.
Document submission & review. Users submit supporting documents from the mobile app or web. Submissions are validated either automatically by partners or by Taskbear admins. Admins accept/reject submissions through the admin panel.
Expiry & reminders. Some credentials expire (licences, insurance). The system triggers reminders (for example, when expiry is within ~2 weeks) and removes badges after expiry, enabling resubmission.
Posters: If a Tasker lacks a badge you expect, ask about the credential in chat and request supporting proof before assigning. For sensitive work, prioritise Taskers who display the appropriate badge.
Taskers: If a badge was removed due to expiry, re-submit the current document. If a submission was rejected, check the admin feedback and correct the document or details (name matching, issued date, etc.). The verification area in the app explains next steps.
Badges are an intentionally visible part of Taskbear’s work to create a safer marketplace. They interact with verification services, admin review, discovery algorithms and notifications (we send verification and badge-related notifications to keep users informed). The combined effect is a platform where Posters can hire more confidently and Taskers can build a stronger, more trusted presence.
